Episode 1 - Once upon a time in a village far, far away...

This story, like all fairy tales begins with a “once upon a time” in a mediaeval Italian town called Tocco da Casauria, nestled deep in the heart of a forest teeming with deer, wolves and bears and most important of all, the remains of an ancient Sleeping Beauty in a glass coffin. However this is a modern fairy tale,  so our heroes arrive in the form of anthropologists, archaeologists, a forensic facial sculptor, the local mayor, DNA specialists, an ex- lawyer and a former criminologist with a passion for all things Italian and all believer in fairytales.  Co hosts, former criminologist Janine D'Angelo and ex-lawyer Anna Reeves narrate the story of what happened to the Bella Addormentata de Tocco in this 6 part series.

Episode 2 - Awakened with the Kiss of Science

This episode we dive into the history of the fairy tale "Sleeping Beauty" itself, the history of remains in glass cases in Italy and meet forensic facial sculptor and kangaroo mother, Jennifer Mann who takes us through the history of forensic sculpture and artistry. We hear about her fascination with the human face and what lead her toward her specialist training in forensic anatomy with the famous "body farm" at the Forensic Anthropology Centre at Texas State University.

Episode 3 - A Face from the past emerges

In this episode, paleoarcheologist, Professor Ruggero D’Anatassio narrates his personal experience with the discovery of the Bella Addormentata de Tocco years before and the strange, cold trail of paperwork that followed. We explore facial reconstruction processes at Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine. Meanwhile, Jennifer Mann has just received the 3D printed skull recreation of the Sleeping Beauty and commences her unique facial reconstruction process, where she also reveals the moment she "meets" the ancestor as a human face emerges in the process. We discover awaiting DNA and carbon isotopes results feels like a 100 year sleep.
